The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa works to provide safe, supportive place where children can experience new opportunities, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life. They have served the Ottawa community since 1923 – each year reaching around 4,500 Youth through various after-school, weekend and summer programming.
Paul Beauchamp the Clubhouse Manager of the Don McGahan Clubhouse shares how the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa has benefited from partnering with Kids Up Front:
“The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa runs after school programs in the Ottawa area. One of our missions is to provide a supportive place where children and youth 6 to 18 years of age, can experience new opportunities.
Kids Up Front Ottawa has been a huge help in this area by providing amazing events for our members to engage in. Many of these are a first for some of our kids. We’re making positive memories and couldn’t do it without Kids Up Front. On one occasion, we were privileged to bring 12 youth to Box seats at an NHL Hockey game. One of our members was a huge Ottawa Senators fan and had never been to a live game before. We plan on getting her out to more games. Thank you Kids Up Front Ottawa.”
Kids Up Front currently provides 88 child-serving Partnering Agencies with opportunities to participate in community events through our Can’t Use Your Ticket? Program. The program redistributes donated event tickets to our Partners so their kids can attend sporting events, arts and culture experiences and recreational events cost-free. The program assists in reducing social isolation for deserving children and youth while enhancing their self-confidence, building positive relationships and sharing opportunities to develop crucial life skills; a perfect synergy with the Boys and Girls Club!
We can’t thank Boys and Girls Club enough for their amazing support in our program. We look forward to continuing our work together throughout this summer and beyond to help provide Ottawa youth the opportunity to build self-confidence and positive relationships with their peers.
