Gifts-in-Kind is a program out of the Rideau-Rockcliffe Community Service Centre. They work with private donors, businesses, government agencies and community organizations to donate material goods to those who need it (ex. surplus office supplies or furniture, new clothing, etc.). The Gifts-in-Kind program fits perfectly with what Kids Up Front’s mandate which is why we feel this partnership is so important!
Valerie who works as a Community Developer with the Gifts-in-Kind program said this about Kids Up Front’s partnership with them;
“The tickets received for sport and cultural events are greatly appreciated by families being served by organizations part of the Gift in Kind network. This is especially true during the summer, March break or PD days, when kids are not in school and that parents are looking for fun and affordable activities to keep them busy. The price of cultural and sports events are often a barrier for many families, Kids Up Front allows this barrier to be taken down the time of a fun outing. The Gift in Kind program is grateful to be recipients from the Kid Up Front Program and to be witnesses of all the fun that participating children, youths and families have while using tickets given by donors!”
Gift-In-Kind has enjoyed a variety of events such as sports, concerts, arts, cultural events and theatre shows! Gift-In-Kind recently had some Kids and families get to experience the Bonds of Interest show outdoors at Strathcona Park as a part of the Odyssey Theatre’s new season of shows! The Kids had a fantastic time and we thank Odyssey and Gifts-In-Kind for their support in creating long lasting memories and fun for Kids this summer!
