July means one thing in this City – It’s Bluesfest season! RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest is the yearly festival that hits Ottawa every summer. This year the festival celebrated its 25th anniversary! The lineup included acts like Eric Church, The Killers, Kygo, Alexisonfire, Kane Brown, Snoop Dogg, and none other than the Backstreet Boys who closed out the festival.
We received a donation of a full festival pass and a U25 full festival pass from a generous individual donor who could not make it to the event but wanted to ensure that the passes got used and that some awesome Kids got to experience this great Ottawa event. We were able to set up a Big and a Little from our Partnering Agency Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa to give them the opportunity to attend the festival.
Jeffery who is a Big in the program, brought his Little, Tyrell to experience Ottawa RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest! Enjoying not only the festival performances over the final weekend – they also had a blast in the midway on the Ferris Wheel and these photos prove it!
Jeffery shared with us that they had so much fun, and it was Tyrell’s first time at a concert and he is so looking forward to go back next year. Kids Up Front is so happy to have been able to provide this experience through the Can’t Use Your Ticket? program! When you can’t use your tickets, we can! The ‘Can’t Use Your Ticket’ program is our signature program. Having tickets not be used at any event is a lost opportunity for a child who would love to experience the event they otherwise may not have the means to attend. Thank you to our individual donor for this wonderful opportunity for Jeffery and Tyrell!
