Agency Spotlight – Make-A-Wish Eastern Ontario

About Make-A-Wish

Make-A-Wish creates life changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. The first Canadian wish was granted in British Columbia, in 1983. Since then, Make-A-Wish has expanded with regional chapters across the country. Over the past 30 years they have granted more than 5,200 wishes.

The Eastern Ontario chapter serves children from Belleville to Ottawa and many counties in between. After granting their first wish in 1997 by providing a trip to Walt Disney World, they incorporated in 1999. In the following years, the organization has granted 781 wishes, providing hope, strength and joy to deserving children.

Kids Up Front partnered with Make-A-Wish Eastern Ontario in October 2017. Over the past two years we’ve provided them with 344 tickets, worth a total value of $21,156. Additionally, Kids Up Front has been able to provide a variety of programming opportunities. These offerings include tickets for the Ottawa Fringe Festival, TD Jazzfest, and a Team Canada vs. Brazil soccer match.

In October 2018, we were thrilled to provide an unforgettable experience to a fantastic group of kids from Make-A-Wish. We provided 23 tickets to Justin Timberlake’s Man of the Woods tour. For many recipients, this represented their first opportunity to attend a live concert – and an incredible one at that.

Wish Coordinator Annie-France Stiles had the following to say about the impact of Kids Up Front’s support:

“Having special events gives these families something to look forward to as many spend days/months surrounded by hospital walls. We have received positive feedback from each family who was provided Kids Up Front tickets and experiences. These families have created magical memories that they got to cherish together.”

Kids Up Front is excited to continue our partnership with Make-A-Wish Eastern Ontario. We are honoured to provide shared memories to their families in challenging times.
